Green Man: I can't believe that "battle readiness" is one of the criteria to see if gays can serve openly in the military. What do they think is going to happen? That the gay soldiers would try to show up in pink camouflage, thus, endangering the location of the other troops? Or, that the gay soldier down in a fox hole with a straight soldier would try to make-out with him while bullets are flying around them? Come on, get real John McCain. Do straight soldiers pause in the middle of a fire fight to take the time and talk about the girls they are going to bang when they get home? Why would any sexual preference matter when people are shooting at you. The only thing a non-gay soldier would care about in a situation like that would be that the gay soldier can shoot straight; not whether or not he's straight in his sex life!!

John McCain is a fossil and a fraud. He doesn't understand the views of the younger generations any more than he understands how to not be a douche bag. The fact of the matter is that for the younger generations, (18-40) gay rights are long over-due. And here's a news flash for John McCain; it's those very same young people who dominate the military of today. A recent poll found nearly 3/4 of them saying they wouldn't have a problem with gays serving in the military.

A good portion of our allies in Europe and elsewhere have allowed gays to serve for decades now. The world didn't end and their armies are still strong and effective. The idea that gays don't know how to be soldiers is bigoted and just plain false. The fact of the matter is that brave gay men and women have been serving and excelling in the military since the very first military. It is believed that one of the greatest generals ever was bisexual. His name? Alexander the Great.

And, some of the great samurai warriors of fuedal Japan are believed to have been homosexual or bisexual. Greece was well-known for allowing homosexuality in society and, so surely many gays served in their military. Besides, a gay soldier can shoot a gun, throw a grenade or fly a plane just as well as a straight soldier. A person's sexual orientation obviously has nothing to do with whether they can fight on a battlefield.

Happy 420 or "National Weed Day."

Today is the day that marijuana supporters celebrate the miraculous drug. The term, "420" is said to have started as a pre-agreed upon time at a high school in the 70s to convene upon an area of the campus to smoke pot. Thus, 4:20. Now it has become a symbol of marijuana culture and a date--April 20th (4/20) to honor and fight for the free use of cannabis. One of the greatest celebrations takes place in my state of Colorado on the campus of the college I attended--the University of Colorado. At last years event, the number of attendees surpassed 10,000.
Even GLENN BECK is for legalizing marijuana!!!! I can't believe that I agree with him on something but he's right. This modern day prohibition has become a total joke. If even Republicans are for legalization then you know it's time. But as usual the people are ahead of the government. I think the swing generation (The Millennials) is about to push the long-delayed legalization of marijuana over the goal line. It's ridiculous too that we have to listen to people who have never smoked pot, been around someone who smokes pot or seen the benefits of it. Thankfully the "Reefer Madness" generation is aging and losing influence on society, so I think rational heads will prevail on this in the next decade or so.

Saint Valentine's Day.

Did you know that today is the day we celebrate a murder? Yep, Valentine's Day is in honor of a martyred priest. Doesn't exactly bring to mind romance now does it? Valentine was a Christian priest in second century Rome, which was basically like being a turd bobbing in the punch bowl at a party because Rome at this time was a Pagan stronghold. He angered the locals with his preachin' and was arrested and interrogated by Emperor Claudis II. It seems though that Claudius II was impressed with the priest and attempted to get him to become become Pagan to save his life. It was a gesture of mercy. Instead, however, Valentine tried to convert Claudius. The Emperor certainly wasn't use to being turned down and wasn't amused with his beliefs being dismissed right to his face, which clinched Valentine's execution. So, now, when I see all the red themed Valentine's Day kitsch it makes me think of Saint Valentine's body dripping white with blood. So, with that thought in mind,

"HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!"

As for me, I don't like Valentines Day and thankfully neither does my wife. It feels contrived and just another day for corporations to rape our wallets.
